Manifesting: How Your Focus Shapes Your Reality

Introduction

Put your brain to work: how OGSM helps you manifest goals

Have you ever noticed that as soon as you have your eye on a new car, you suddenly see the same model driving everywhere? You pay attention, wonder how it drives, if it's expensive, and if it would suit you. It seems like these cars are suddenly popping up everywhere, even though they were always there.

This phenomenon is known as confirmation bias—your brain filters the world based on what you focus your attention on. This happens not only with cars, but with everything in life. Just think about when someone tells you that a certain color will have a special meaning for you today. Suddenly, you see that color everywhere, even though you wouldn't normally pay attention to it.

What if you consciously use this natural brain function for your personal and professional goals? This is the core of manifesting: focusing your attention and energy on what you want to achieve, so you can spot and take advantage of the right opportunities more quickly.

The science behind manifesting

Manifesting is sometimes dismissed as vague, but there is a clear psychological basis behind it. Confirmation bias, or confirmation bias, plays a major role in this. Our brain processes huge amounts of information every day and automatically filters what is relevant. What you focus on gets priority.

In addition, the reticular activation system (RAS) plays an important role. This is the part of your brain that controls what information you consciously perceive. If you think about something frequently—such as a goal you want to achieve—you program your RAS to pick up on the signals and opportunities associated with it more quickly. This is why writing down and visualizing your goals is so powerful: it helps your brain stay focused on what matters.

From intent to action

Manifesting is more than just wishing and hoping. The key lies in combining intent with action. Without action, a goal remains just a dream. By keeping your goals in mind regularly and linking them to concrete steps, you increase the chance of actually achieving them.

How do you do this in practice?

1. Write down your goals — Research shows that people who write down their goals achieve them more often than people who don't. This helps to make them tangible and concrete.

2. Visualize the desired result - Imagine how it feels when you reach your goal. This helps to strengthen your motivation and perseverance.

3. Remind yourself of your goals daily - By reviewing them regularly, you keep them top of mind and stay focused.

4. Take targeted action — Taking a small step towards your goal every day builds momentum and prevents you from getting stuck in just thinking and dreaming.

5. Be open to opportunities — Because your brain is focused on your goals, you'll be more likely to recognize opportunities that contribute to achieving them.

Manifesting in daily life

Manifesting works not only for personal goals, but also in a business context. Think of entrepreneurs who want to achieve a certain turnover, teams that strive for better cooperation, or companies that work on innovation. By setting clear intentions and aligning actions accordingly, you increase the chances of success.

Ultimately, it's about the balance between focus and action. Intention without action remains a dream. Action without intent feels like running around aimlessly. The strength lies in combining both: knowing clearly what you want and acting accordingly on a structural basis.

What is OGSM and how does it work?

The OGSM model (Objective, Goals, Strategies, Measures) helps you focus. By setting one clear ambition, translating it into measurable goals and concrete actions, you prevent your team from getting bogged down in separate to-dos without direction.

This approach uses the natural way your brain works: by clearly defining what is important, you will automatically pay more attention to it. The result? More control over your strategy and better results.

Do you want to get started with this in concrete terms? Download a free OGSM template and clearly map out your goals and actions. This is how you create a plan that allows you to work step by step towards the desired result.

Wondering how you can apply this within your team, department or organization? We would be happy to schedule a personal meeting.
